WELCOME TO THE CLASSIC WEB

About The Classic Web

The Classic Web is a place to pause, step back, and enjoy the simpler days of the internet. In a world where most websites are dominated by corporations trying to make a profit, track every move, and distract you with ads, this site is a refuge.

Here, blinking text, MIDI music, and retro aesthetics reign supreme. It’s a place to just vibe, explore nostalgia, and entertain yourself without pressure. You can read, chat, or listen to music — no tracking, no algorithms, just a calm corner of the web where you can be yourself.

The idea came to life when I watched a MattKC video showcasing a site that could run on any Windows 98 machine. I wanted to create my own page that could work anywhere, and while the current version has grown too big to run on everything, I’m planning a slimmed-down version that captures the same spirit.

About the Creator: Lans van Glabbeek

Hi! I’m Lans, a student and part-time photographer who loves exploring creativity in all forms. Coding has always been a passion of mine, and projects like The Classic Web are my way of combining my love for technology, design, and nostalgia.

I started this project because I wanted a space where people can just relax, enjoy, and explore without being tracked or bombarded by ads. This is a personal passion project where I can share some of my interests, experiment with web design, and create something that’s purely for the joy of it.

Outside of coding, I love photography, capturing moments, and finding beauty in everyday life. The Classic Web is a reflection of my philosophy: slow down, enjoy the moment, and celebrate creativity in all its forms.
